New York Trip: The Hotel
I was fortunate enough to grab a room at the Edison Hotel which is in the Broadway district and only a couple blocks away from Times Square. However, ‘fortunate’ is certainly not a word I would associate with these bastages now. The hotel is stuck in a time warp that it has no desire to escape from…an early 20th century art deco style (to the hilt!) hotel that used to be the shit. These days the employees might be dressed like the 1920s, but their attitudes are certainly a product of today. I would have taken back my tip to the bell boy (punk-ass) if I had the option.
All the conveniences that you’d find at a regular hotel (even a cheap-ass Motel 6) are missing from this place. Want ice? There’s no ice machine on the floor. Call down to the desk…get a huffpuff from the person about it…some bellboy brings it up and demands money for it right at the door. Want some pop or juice at an odd hour? Better hit the streets…no such creature at this hotel at 1am. How about room service? Instead of a rolling a table full of food into your room, you’re given a box of food…but only after you pay and only at the door since they can’t bother to come in.
With all the modern hotels in the area, there’s no reason to stay at the Hotel Edison. This ‘The Shit’ hotel is now just shit!
