The Server’s Down…Let’s Get Some Doughnuts!

How Do You Spell Relief? 0-9-1-2-0-2

The 11th of each month really gets to me these days. And not because of what you might think. It’s because of the ahos out there who takes advantage of the day for their own ends. Does every 11th need to have a special celebrated remembrance of what happened? That shit is getting very old the farther away from the act it gets. And there’s no doubt certain people are milking it for everything it’s worth. It certainly can’t hurt to be one of the people responsible for a remembrance when election time comes rolling along.

The American public has put away their American car flags and tucked their cop & fireman shirts & caps into storage. But the politicians are still squeezing the patriotic towel for every last drop they can get. And they’ve got the appropriate remembrance in September to go. Talk about heart! When you hear your politicians talk, count how often they bring up September 11th. 99% of the time it will not be really relevant to what they’re actually talking about. Another drop…another vote…

Let’s hear it from September 12, 2002. By then, remembrances that aren’t on September 11th will hopefully not seem that appropriate to most people. Time to put the towel in the dryer…

The Music is Better When You’re Dead

I liked Aaliyah. She was lovely to look at and her songs were decently catchy. Nothing too meaty, but still fun to experience. Was she really to be the next superstar? I suppose anything is possible. Her movie career could have propelled her into it, but I could never see her music alone doing it. Musically, I figured her for a mid-card R&B/Pop star at the most. But certainly not the phenom star in ascension that she’s being made out to be these days.

And that brings us to the awards. This girl is getting awards left and right. R&B this…Female that…awards that she didn’t have a snowball’s chance in hell of getting before her untimely demise. You want to remember her by giving her a special reward, then do so. Don’t rob artists who are still on this mortal coil of their just rewards. Don’t you think she’d rather be remembered without the mental asterisks next to her name in the big book of awards?

Side Note: Yes, I admit that this is partially brought on by Aaliyah taking awards from my ladies Alicia and India. But this shit goes for every posthumous award and it needed to be said. ^^

What I Need

Open statement to the gentlemen of INXS: I happened to catch your live show last week and it kicked major buttocks on many levels. The new front man ain’t half bad and the music is just as tite as it was back in the day. Here’s my complaint: You played every hit you had in your kit-n-kaboodle (and I thank you for those) except for one: “WHAT YOU NEED”!!!! The best damn INXS song ever! The song that introduced many people to you! And you couldn’t be bothered to play it. You did have fans before Kick, ne chumpy?

OK OK…back to fan mode. They’re a fantastic band in concert and helped me settled a debt I had with my teenage self (They even played Mystify and Calling All Nations!). Well done, gentleAussies. Go see them when they come to your area. You won’t regret it. ^^
