Might Have to Wait a While…

October 24, 2004 | 9:35 am

What happens when you see thousands of new people registering to vote with the intent to boot your boy out of office? You challenge ‘em! Check this crap out (or this one too). Don’t be surprised to arrive at your polling place and see someone (or yourself) challenged on your eligibility to vote. It’s a forced go-slow attempt by the worried pachyderms…don’t let ‘em worry ya. Bring your patience to the polls and knock these suckas out of the box!

My name is Ohio…and I’m a Battleground State ("Hi Ohio!")

October 23, 2004 | 1:41 pm

I love the thought process differences in my fellow man. The ability to see things on alternate tangents. Being able to take the exact same facts, and based on personal experiences, come up with completely different ideas based on them. Occasionally, such differences can cause dangerous after effects….but as a whole they remain rather benign and in the end may even provide some comfort and security. It’s your mind…you have the right to think what you want with it. :)

However…at this perfect moment in time…I wish I could hit half the state of Ohio over the smegging head! We have such ‘even’ differences in our thoughts and beliefs that it has once again made us a battleground state. And not just a regular state…a state being referred to as the next ‘Florida’….:(

What does that mean for us? It means the political armies have two hands up our collective asses and are not only deciding where in our colons the big screen TV would look best, but have hidden away their stash of porno under some leftover undigested red meat.

We’ve been getting a face full of obnoxious television ads from both sides (as well as their associate lackey groups) for a ridiculous number of months. Who said the main election season could start 10 months early? How many people really give a shite about how ‘Troubling’ someone is smack dab in the middle of winter when they’re more concerned about their heating bills than who gets to play emperor next year.

And now we have the lead pipe that shattered the camels back! I come home from work everyday and have no less than 4 political related calls on my answering machine, from all sides:

“Who will you vote for in the next election? And how strongly do you feel about…”

“…and I’m sure you know that for a better America, we need a candidate with strong, traditional family values….”

“You know, protecting the institution of marriage is an important matter in these trying times…”

“….has been censured two times in two weeks and we need your support to help remove him from office….”

“…have your long distance rates cut in half when you switch to XBC, a Roscoe’s Chicken and Waffles company…”

Damn! DamN! DAMN!

Side Note: Many pundits have mentioned that Ohio very well may be the key to winning the election for either side. They may more right than they know (or let on). The majority of electronic voting machines in the country are made by Diebold, a Canton, Ohio company.

In addition to these voting machines not having any paper trail (one crash and poof…thousands of votes gone…or one program alteration and…), but the CEO of the company is a staunch Bush supporter and has actually said mentioned delivering electoral votes to the President….

Frankly, it’s more than unnerving. I never understood why the machines have to be connected to internet in the first place. Just have people vote on them…gather up the machines and take ‘em down to the board of elections for tabulation. Whammo! No hackers (other than the ones at the board) need apply.

Manipulating the Crossfire…

October 18, 2004 | 7:56 pm

Hallelujah to Jon Stewart! I’ve never seen the cable tv politico-pundits taken to task for really not doing the job they should until now. Far from a freak-out, Jon turned the tables on Crossfire’s Carlson & Begala and threw some cold truth into their faces…and dear lord did they not like it. :)
Never heard Carlson be called a ‘Dick’ before…at least not on air…;)

Well, don’t just stand there…watch it for yourself!

Luxor Poker Room: Smoke ‘em if ya got ‘em

October 16, 2004 | 9:14 pm

I have to give the Luxor points for having an easily acessible, friendly and entertaining poker room. I enjoyed myself immensely the majority of the time there. Playing a little $2/$4 hold-em outside of the regular weekly gang was a great experience.

But if you’re going announce that you have a Non-Smoking Poker Room, how about enforcing it? Last time I checked, smoke has always been unwieldy…never seems to stay exactly where it’s blown. Letting players smoke only 1 foot outside of the Poker Room is a fucking joke…better start enforcing shit! It’s already caused me to try another room next time I go….

Cuntinental Airlines

I’ve already long sworn off these meat packers disguised as an airline, but every once in a while I’m forced to take them because of my job. I recently flew to and back from Las Vegas on Cuntinental…and discovered that they’ve achieved the impossible!

I knew they long discarded leg room comfort for their bottom line…if you couldn’t get the exit row, discomfort for those of us with long legs was just par for the course. But on my recent flight, I swear they’ve decreased the leg room even more! There’s nothing like switching leg positions every five minutes to keep from having your legs fall asleep. And I don’t even want to talk about what happens when someone leans their seat back… @_@

That along with adding seats in the exit aisle on their smaller planes …fucking intolerable! Thank Kami-sama I’m getting frequent flier miles on Northwest in return for these trips-o-pain. Three cheers for the Cunts of the air…hopefully they’ll die a quick death….

Cabbie Therapy

Took numerous cabs during my time there. Why is it that there was only one of the many who didn’t seem to be in need of some therapy (or a 12 step group). At first it’s amusing to listen to, but when they continue ad nauseum, you can tell there’s something not complete right going on….

To the cabbie who took it upon himself to warn us about the She-Males walking around (and showed us his method for taking care of them *poundpoundpound*)….u protesting a little too much, fogey…time to get fitted for that mini-skirt…

Roulette == Bullshit

Three consecutive double zeros….Three consecutive double zeros…
Hell fucking nah!

To a Certain Four Queens $3 Blackjack Dealer

You’re on the $3 table…and with an attitude to boot. Don’t know why you’d expect to get any kind of tip…Aho!

The Red Piano!

I highly recommend everyone check out Elton John’s The Red Piano playing at Caeasar’s Palace. Elton puts on such a fierce show! All the old love-related favorites, plus imaginative video (by Dave LaChappelle) and stage presentations (rather baudy ones later on in the show ^_^). Freaking fabulous!

BTW…

I love Vegas! ^_^

Round 2: Moments of Uhhh?

October 8, 2004 | 10:36 pm

Kudos to the audience (and Charlie) for picking a wide range of topics and not being afraid to include some difficultly within the questions! The questions did bring about two beautiful moments of ‘Uhhh?’

For Bush: When he referred to Kerry as ‘Senator Kennedy’. It went by quickly, but I’m sure it’ll be replayed for a while…very amusing. Kinda wished JK had figured out a way to use it…

For Kerry: When he mentioned a timber company paying Bush $84 in reference to small business. I agree with you, GW…what on earth are you talking about, JK? ^o^ Very odd comment…

[Addendum - 3 hours later: Seems that $84 dollar comment is actually true. Still an odd moment, but points to JK on that one...]

[Side Note: 'Uhhh?' is meant to sound like Scooby Doo when he's having a confused moment...]

Wild, Black Yonder!

October 5, 2004 | 7:39 am

I hope kids today realize that a piece of history was made yesterday that will change long-range transportation forever.

My thanks and applause to the team behind SpaceShipOne for meeting the X-Prize challenge and introducing the possibility of opening up space to the common joe. And without producing any crashes, implosions or explosions that new space projects have been riddled with in the past.

Give it ten to twenty years, kiddies…we’ll all be able to afford a trip into space. Give it twenty to forty years…all of aviation will be using trips into space for worldwide trips. Looking forward to making it to Tokyo in 2 hours. ^_^

2%+ ain’t happening!

October 3, 2004 | 9:56 am

Don’t believe the polls that 2% (or more) of the population will be voting for Ralph Nader. Last time, the polls were calling him at 5%. In the end, he only ended up with 2.74%.

This election is quite different. He’s not backed by the Green Party. He won’t be on the ballot in all 50 states (he’s only on 30 or so right now). And there’s plenty of former Nader voters, such as myself, who turned into Anybody But Bush supporters and aren’t going to place our vote with a man who has no chance of even getting 5% for matching funds.

I respect Nader immensely. He’s done so much for this country…it’s a shame most Americans aren’t more familiar with him. (But now is your chance…read up!). But now is not the time…

Prediction: 0.9% of the popular vote….
(Let’s just hope that doesn’t actually effect any of electoral votes…)
