Toy Story 3….more like Superman 3…

November 16, 2004 | 4:04 pm

Beware all you childreneseses out there, of all ages, who loved the Toy Story movies. There’s a new sherrif in town, and he’s not wearing a Pixar hat.

Toy Story 3 will become a reality…one MASSSIVE problem…Pixar will not be the ones doing it. Disney is setting up a new CG studio specifically for it. Unfortunately, Disney can make sequels to all the Pixar movies…and we all know what geniuses they are at developing sequels (”The Rescuers Down Under” notwithstanding)…

I’m just dreading the idea of a Disney-based Incredibles 2….@_@

Look out Source…Vibe is comin’ atcha!

November 16, 2004 | 10:51 am

All hail the Vibe awards! Not even the class of Quincy Jones could keep a throwdown, stab-up from happening right in the front row. And nobody got arrested too…police can’t waste any time on minor scuffle-ups like this. They’re too involved in finding out who shot Biggie, Pac & JMJay….

The quote of evening has to go to the one, the only Suge Knight:

“It’s really important that we don’t take a negative incident like this and do away with the awards”

Extra points to the reporter for seeking out a true expert in the ‘negative incident’ department…

They know offensive when they see it…

November 11, 2004 | 10:50 pm

On a day where Americans should be paying homage to all of our troops, past and present, fear is raising it’s ugly head once again. This time in the form of possible FCC fines.

It seems that many ABC affiliates are showing ‘Saving Private Ryan‘ in its unedited form. Since its Veteran’s Day, it seems only natural…and since ‘Schindler’s List‘ was shown in the same fashion, why should anyone be worried, right?

Of course there are a number of stations which still won’t be showing it. With the new possible fines, why risk it, right? Well some of the stations actually went to the FCC and asked them if it was alright. The FCC refused to comment on a show previous to broadcast, saying it would amount to censorship….

However…to quote spokeswoman Janice Wise of the FCC, “If we get a complaint, we’ll act on it.”

Ahh…the lords of television decency won’t tell if you what’s wrong ahead of time…but they’re certainly fine your ass into the ground if it’s deemed offensive later on…

As two the Guinness beer gentlemen often say…”Brilliant!” :(

Side Note: A big flip of the bird to WEWS Channel 5 in Cleveland for substituting ‘Batman and Robin’ in the place of ‘Saving Private Ryan’. I shouldn’t be surprised…a news station as dull as theirs wouldn’t have the kintama to risk spilling a glass of milk, let alone a hefty fine from the FCC.

Sometimes 25 years is just 25 years…

November 11, 2004 | 10:54 am

I’d like to give a shot out to all peoples of the world who are, as the ancient Greeks would say, “over pumping shit up.” You know who you are…trying to play up the talent like it’s going to make the end result taste like fine wine.

Those shady-suave muthas…who insist on adding up everyone’s experience and announcing to the world that sum experience actually means something important….

“There’s over 150 years of Jazz in this room tonight…”

“We’ve gathered a staff with over 100 years of experience in fighting back terminal flatulence…”

“We’ve got the true power of 80 years worth of barbecuing excellence for you this afternoon! Now who wants a brat?”

No no no….

Your group’s level of experience is limited to the person with the most experience. 10 guys with 2 years experience and one guy with five couldn’t possibly equal the time tested knowledge and experience of someone with 25 years.

My personal favorite…sum experience which actually overshoots how long something has been in existance. 150 years of jazz? Really? Damn…I didn’t know that the soundtrack to the Civil War was backed by horns and a xylophone. Rumor has it the code number of northern double agents was 6-5000…

You could gather up a 1000 mediocre jazz musicians…give them special powers, the kung fu grip and your mama’s buttermilk biscuits…do you think their sum experience would equal the experience contained in one of Miles’ ’sacks? Neither do I. So stop acting like it means something!

Interested in a better web browsing experience?

November 9, 2004 | 1:56 pm

Today marks the version 1.0 release of the Firefox web browser (from the Mozilla people), which has been making impressive leaps and bounds in an Internet Explorer dominated world. It’s the first browser to truely cut into the usage domination of IE and it’s gaining more and more users everyday.

Don’t settle for a three year old stagnant Internet Explorer, when the web browsing experience has improved so much in the hands of developers who actually give a damn.

(No spyware, better security, tabbed browsing, live news & blog feeds, pop-up blocker, smarter search …”you name it…they got it”)

Try Firefox today!

3,893 extra votes…my bad…

November 5, 2004 | 8:10 pm

I wondered when we’d hear the first of these:

A “machine error” in Columbus, Ohio gave Bush an extra 3,893 votes. Might not have been noticed initially, but when only 638 people casted ballots in that precinct, it couldn’t be washed over.

Anyone else interested in checking the other electronic voting machines used? Ah…that’s right. The vast majority have no way to be audited properly…

Here’s hoping the assorted city/state officials, who blindly accepted non-audtiable electronic voting machines, have lost or will lose their jobs in the near future…

When dealing with felines…

November 3, 2004 | 11:56 pm

…it’s best to keep religious topics off the table. Take this fine gentleman here:

…this is only a few seconds after he tried to convert the lions to Christanity and a few seconds before Leo here tore him a new one:

My advice for the future…stick within the species. You’ll get a better chance of them actually giving a shit.

Today’s Voting Experience

November 2, 2004 | 10:28 am

I’m so glad I checked the news before I went to the polls today. To find out the challengers here in Ohio got a last second reprieve was irritating enough. To have gone to vote without that knowledge would have been massively irritating and possibly confrontational…

I consider myself lucky…it was only a 5 minute wait to get my ballot, but that’s 5 times as long as usual. The other precinct that was voting there was a different matter…there were 50-60 people in line at 9 a.m., which is rather unprecedented according to the local poll workers. But both pale in comparison to the hours and hours of waiting that some people are experiencing.

As for the challenger, the one at my table was intensely interested in watching me sign my name. Very irritating…I almost messed up my signature just as a dare. Had two forms of identification and my phone bill with me just in case…

I’d like to give megakudos to George Bush and his administration. Nothing brings out the populate in droves who are willing to stand in the rain for hours to vote…like the fear of getting four more years of incompetence, ineptitude, over-arrogance and unnecessarily enhanced danger. Bravo W, bravo!
